A portrait completed in support of the same commission as Pferd. In this iteration, the likeness to the specific subject, the owner's horse, is emphasized. In the rapidity of the execution, Joe attempted to imbue the image with the excitement and dynamism of the animal itself as well as the relationship between the owner and the animal.

The foundation of Joe's work. In painting, Joe discovered the possibilities for visual communication and the greatest historical inspiration. His canvasses are largely earlier works, though he will return from time to time to paint on panels or found surfaces.
