A portrait of Joe's American grandfather completed for his father. "It's the eyes..." His father would often say about it, transposing onto the canvas the almost mythic powers the man had held in his memory. Joe is in the process of writing a graphic story stringing together the stories his father had told him with some historical contextualization and self-conscious interpretations. This piece is viewable in the "Paper" section of this site.

Paintings
The foundation of Joe's work. In painting, Joe discovered the possibilities for visual communication and the greatest historical inspiration. His canvasses are largely earlier works, though he will return from time to time to paint on panels or found surfaces.
