Dog

Dog

Oil on Canvas 24" x 18"

1988 and 1996

Joe's first painting ever, done while on a family vacation as an alternative to building model tanks. The initial result left much to be desired, though Joe's mother did hang it proudly anyway. Joe returned to it after gaining some confidence in the medium, retaining the earlier, flawed composition, with a new family dog as model.

The foundation of Joe's work. In painting, Joe discovered the possibilities for visual communication and the greatest historical inspiration. His canvasses are largely earlier works, though he will return from time to time to paint on panels or found surfaces.
