Panzer Cup
Glazed Stoneware
2002
A success from the pottery session that yielded several of the pieces in this section. The appearance of turned steel that emerged at the inception of the Panzer Cup dictated the subsequent application of details, all of which inspired by the surfaces Joe had encountered while studying German armor from the Second World War. Casting flaws and numbers, weld beads, and anti-magnetic paste all conspire to evoke the impression of a Tiger tank. Like its inspiration, the cup is heavy, of limited application but superb when used appropriately.
