Grievance Beast 4 (Down in Flames)
White Clay with India Ink, Brown Ink, Graphite
2008
This beast experiments both with a monocoque body form and greater sophistication of structure, detail and smoke passage. The result is somewhat less convenient to light and put paper to for firing, but does offer a novel smoke trail that emits from the tail of the aircraft evocative of the images of aircraft shot down in war. The visible structural damage and profusion of bullet holes complete the impression. The writing stage is inscribed with the word "defeat. There is no pen holder. This is the largest and most intricate burner to date.
